Orange Chipotle Ice Cream with Strawberries & a Ghost Pepper Garnish
To make this Philadelphia-style ice cream follow the recipe below. It is extra soft and sweet after coming out of the ice cream maker, almost mousse-like, and perfect for this dessert.
Ingredients 3 cups heavy cream 1/2 cup sugar
1 1/2 cup Orange Chipotle Haht Syrup by Haht Sahs 1 teaspoons pure vanilla extract (Organic, if available) Seeds from 1 vanilla bean, scraped
Directions In a medium sauce pan, heat the cream, sugar, vanilla, and vanilla seeds until the sugar is dissolved. Do not bring to a boil. To make sure the sugar is dissolved, feel the mixture between your fingers. If you don't feel any sugar granuals, it's good to go. Strain into a bowl, cover, and chill overnight. Put the mixture in an ice cream maker (read instructions on how to use your maker). While mixing, pour in the Haht Syrup and let it mix for about an hour. Serve immediately or freeze until ready to serve. Allow to thaw slightly before layering.
Strawberries:
Slice strawberries into rings and layer with the ice cream. Make sure to place strawberries at the bottom of a serving glass first. For extra flavor - soak strawberries in Grand Marnier or an orange liquer of choice, for an hour, as you wait for the ice cream to finish.
Decoration:
Layer strawberries, ice cream, strawberries. Garnish with a ghost pepper or item of choice. WARNING: the ghost pepper is JUST a garnish. We love ghost peppers, but we will take NO responsibility for the heat you will endure, if you decide to eat the thing.
